Professional Teaching Experience

2012 Art Students League NY | Painting Miniature Portraits. A five day intensive workshop instructing students in the art of Indo-Persian miniature painting, focusing on traditional portraiture.

2010 Haque Academy | Sculpture Learning Module

A studio class initiative for school level (classes 8 to 10). Introduced students to various materials and the study of 3D forms, culminating in an exhibit of their work at the end of the academic year.

2009 to 2010 The CAS School | Contemporary Art Seminar

An O Level theory-based class with a practical component culminating in a research paper. Introduced class to visual artists and galleries and promoted a critical dialogue on artwork and social change between professionals and students.

2009 The Citizens Foundation | Rahbar Mentorship Program

A mentorship program for underprivileged middle school children. Built a relationship of trust with mentees over a series of weekly meetings where we engaged in group activities and dialogue about life choices and experiences.

2008 to 2010 The CAS School | Sculpture Learning Module

2008 Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture | History of Culture

A liberal arts foundation year class which promoted a dialogue on local culture, social change and art. The practical components of this class resulted in a photographic documentation, an installation, and a play or a short film as the final project.

2006 to 2010 Asian Institute of Fashion Design | Colors and Mediums / Basic Drawing

A studio elective for all semesters of fashion and textile students, in which students worked with different materials and studied different painting techniques / A foundation year course where basic drawing and compositional skills were acquired through a series of set assignments.

2005 to 2006 Karachi Grammar School | Art / Craft Design Technology

Art and craft courses from class 3 to 6 which followed a set school curriculum. Other responsibilities included working on the school play, designing a permanent set, backdrops, costumes and props.

2004 to 2005 Karachi High School | Art Department

My responsibilities included developing and executing a curriculum for a school for underprivileged children which seeks to provide them with a sound education and an opportunity to learn other skills. Also organized the International School Educational Olympiad and put together information and artwork projects to send to partner schools in England and India.

1998 Pakistan American Cultural Institute | Summer School

Gave English lessons to students of all age groups and was in charge of directing art projects for all classes.
